Visit from some of the Ballinderry Seniors on Blue and White Day!
We were delighted to welcome some members of the Ballinderry Shamrocks Senior team into our school today. There was a great buzz and excitement as Gareth McKinless, Charlie Crozier, Niall O’Donnell and Ruairi Forbes joined us to discuss their journey to the Ulster final.
We began with a whole school assembly and enjoyed listening to the boys share their highs and lows of their football careers. The boys then visited each class with the cup and had the opportunity to have their photographs taken.
The boys then made their way to the P5,6&7 classroom to take part in an interview to tie in with our World Around Us topic “Reach For The Stars!” This week our focus had been about our role models and the people we aspire to be like. We created portraits of our hero and had written about all the wonderful things that make them a role model. Caolam and Padraig had chosen Gareth and Niall and they were delighted to show the boys their work. Leah read our class report to the boys about them winning the Derry Intermediate title! The children were so excited to get showing the boys how we had decorated our school in the lead up to the final and how our Christmas window this year was in keeping with the blue and white of Ballinderry!
We were especially delighted to welcome Charlie and Ruairi back as past pupils of Ballylifford school, their fondest memories are of the wonderful dinners they received from Brigid Ann! They were back in their old classroom today and got the chance to sit back in their old seats again for old times sake! Before the boys left, Caolam presented Gareth with a football that is to be used to bring the team good luck at the weekend! A huge word of thanks to the boys for thanking the time out of their busy schedules to come and talk to the children! We throughly enjoyed our afternoon and are hoping that we are all celebrating after the final whistle on Saturday! Best of luck from everyone in Ballylifford PS.
