Sports Day June 2024

21st Jun 2024

Such an enjoyable day today at our annual sports day.  The children were a real credit from start to finish - starting with our traditional races including egg and spoon, bean bag throw and sprint.  Lots of very close races and great competitiveness by all.  This was followed by our Mummy and Daddy games - mummys played the hula hoop challenge while daddys played cups and saucers.  Thank you to everyone for joining in all the fun.
The second half of the morning was our Fun sports where children rotated around 10 games with their team.  Thank you to all parents and past pupils who assisted with the games and to David from Active Kids for bringing 2 of his inflatables along to use during the fun sports.

Our morning ended with P.7 girls dancing to ‘Timbre’, a toddler race and all P.7 pupils ‘Rocking the boat’ with their parents and family to mark their final sports day at Ballylifford PS.  The P.7 pupils were excellent leaders today throughout our fun sports - well done boys and girls!
Thank you to our DJ Terry for adding to the atmosphere with music and dance.  A special thank you to Brigid Ann, Orla and the ‘Friends of Ballylifford’ for providing tea/coffee and scones during the morning break.
We had a lovely surprise when Maurice from McKenna’s Mace arrived with ice lollies for everyone to enjoy during sports day - very thoughtful and much appreciated.
Thank you to John our caretaker for helping set up this morning and to John Wilson for the marquee - thankfully the weather held up for us and we were able to enjoy a fantastic morning.

So there goes another sports day - lots of tired children and staff tonight.  Thank you to all staff for your help today and to all parents who helped set up and tidy away equipment.  A lovely whole school community event! Well done everyone!
