Shared Education - The Shores of Lough Neagh

20th Jan 2025

Following on from our icebreaker session last week, we met up again today with the pupils of Coagh P.S and Derrychrin P.S to begin our new topic of “Lough Neagh.” The pupils from each school were split into three different classes to explore the topic in different ways. Class one had the opportunity to focus on the concept of surface tension, with particular focus on how pollution can affect the tension of the water. Class two throughly enjoyed their trip to the Ballinderry Rivers Trust in Cookstown. Here the pupils had the chance to see how fish and mussels are cared for by the Trust. The pupils loved getting the opportunity to have a hands on approach to learning. Back in school, class 3 carried out practical experiments on dissolving substances which explored water and its properties. The pupils showed wonderful enthusiasm as they began their new topic, we are really looking forward to exploring the Shores of Lough Neagh further in the coming weeks!
