Shared Education W5 Trip
Our KS2 pupils visited W5 today with their friends from Coagh Primary School. This trip was the final session in another extremely successful ‘Shared Education’ partnership this year.
All pupils had the opportunity to explore and engage in the activities in the ‘See/Do/Go’ and ‘Climbit’ areas at W5. Following the exploration of these areas the pupils then participated in a workshop.
The P5 pupils completed the ‘Destination Space’ Workshop while the P6/7 pupils participated in the ‘Rollercoaster Racers’ Workshop. In teams the pupils worked together engineering the ultimate rollercoaster using the equipment provided and tested marble run rollercoaster with all the characteristics that will make it an irresistible ride-thrills, duration and speed!
The pupils:
Were able to carry out a construction challenge which involves fair testing.
Were able to design process of testing and improving.
Were able to use their ingenuity to build something new.
Were able to work together as a team and develop communication skills.
All pupils throughly enjoyed the whole day and many have made excellent friendships with the pupils from Coagh Primary School during the partnership and enjoyed the 10 week programme in their curriculum learning through WAU and ICT. We look forward to continuing this next year.
