PRIMARY 7 TRANSFER TO BIG SCHOOL

Dear P7 Parents/Carers,

Normally at this time of the school year we are beginning to sort out the process of Primary 7 pupils transferring to the 'Big School'. I usually send out a form for you and your son/daughter to discuss, choose and fill out around options of secondary/ grammar schools in our local area.

However, this year the process is now being carried out by parents online between 1st - 16th March - there are no forms sent out by us and you do not return any forms regarding the process back into us.

I do however want you to know that we are here at all times to assist you if you experience any problems or need some help in making decisions regarding future schools for your children - please do not feel that you are on your own.

The Education Authority have posted details of the Post Primary Admissions on their website and this can be viewed and accessed below.

There is also some very helpful information on the NI Direct website. I have attached their information below also.

  • You have been asked to make school choices for your child and complete the online application form (sent to the Education Authority) between 1st - 16th March 2021.
  • You will receive notification of your post-primary school on Saturday 19th June 2021.

 

SCHOOLS ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

  • Before you list a School on your child's Transfer application it is very important that you read the school's admission criteria.

 

  • The Admissions criteria for the 4 'Big Schools' in Magherafelt can be seen by viewing their websites online and clicking on Admissions Criteria 2021.

 

  • If your child did not register to do the Transfer Test (PPTC) it is best not to apply for a place in either St Mary's or Rainey Endowed - as this is part of their admissions criteria.
