NEW P1 INDUCTION MEETINGS

16th Jun 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, thank you to all parents/carers for confirming your child’s place starting P1 in September. I wish to welcome you to the Ballylifford school community and to say how excited we are to accept your child into Primary 1. Starting school is such a special time with new experiences, new friends and a step towards more independence for your child.

Transition from pre-school to P1 is a big step for both children and their parents/carers and we understand that this may be a bit daunting for you but Ballylifford PS would like to help ensure effective arrangements are in place to make the transition as smooth as possible for every child and their parents/carers. Your child is about to begin a very exciting journey and we are looking forward to getting to know all our new families and working with the children and parents for the next seven years.

Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, we have not been able to arrange our usual welcome meeting or hold our usual transition visit days during which the children were able to ‘play and stay’ in our P1/P2 classroom.

The children will get an opportunity to visit Ballylifford PS with their Playgroup leaders on Tuesday 22nd June. All visit times have been arranged with Ballinderry and Ballyronan Playgroups and the children will get the opportunity to meet the staff and familiarise themselves with the school and classroom settings.

  • Ballinderry Playgroup Morning Group- 10:15am
  • Ballinderry Playgroup Afternoon Group - 1:15pm
  • Ballyronan Playgroup - 2:15pm

An induction meeting for parents only, has been arranged for Friday 25th June at 9:15am. It will be delivered by Mr McElroy and Mrs Sweeney (P1/P2 teacher) and parents will gain an overview school policies and procedures, general information about the school, what to expect in the curriculum in first term/year; routines to keep safe proposed and key dates for the school academic year. The meeting will take place in the school hall following all COVID and social distancing guidelines.

Please also visit our school website www.ballyliffordps.com which has lots of other important information, including policies and a school calendar of events. I encourage you to click on the ‘Download App’ Link on the homepage so that you can stay up to date with events and get notifications directly. Further details have been attached on a separate information sheet.

We look forward to seeing you and your child when you visit Ballylifford PS.

Kind Regards

Mr Ciaran McElroy

Principal
