French Day in P1/2
Today we celebrated the European Day of Languages in Ballylifford. P1/2 chose France this year. We all dressed up in the French colours of red, white and blue and started the day with a whole school assembly about EU day. Each class returned to their room for a variety of activities relating to their chosen country. In P1/2 we were very fortunate to have one of our parents come in to teach us some French. Maria’s daddy, Chris told us about his French studies and where he lived when he went out to work there. He taught us some greetings, colours, numbers to 10 and some prayers in French - Maria also showed us how she can bless herself in French! We had some colouring activities and got to sample some French breads, yummy!! We also learned the popular nursery rhyme Frère Jacques. We finished the day with beautifully decorated cupcakes in our country’s colour at lunchtime. Merci beaucoup Chris and Brigid Ann!
