Farewell Message from Mr McElroy

Dear Parents,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that I will be leaving my position as Principal of Ballylifford PS at the end of the school year to begin my new role as Principal of Derrychrin PS. It has been a privilege and honour to serve as Principal of Ballylifford Primary School since 2014 and I can honestly say that my time here has been full of blessings.

It has been a pleasure to have been surrounded by a great staff who understand the vision of the school and who have worked collaboratively with me to make it happen. Each one of my colleagues works extremely hard to give the best they can to all our pupils. I cannot thank the staff enough for their loyalty and commitment to the school.

To the children of Ballylifford, past and present, you all hold a very special place in my heart, and I will continue to smile and glow with pride as I hear about you reaching milestones and achieving your dreams. It has always been my commitment to building a tradition of excellence and inclusiveness for all our pupils. I firmly believe we have consistently lived by our school values and motto ‘Nurturing Potential, Achieving Together’ to celebrate the success of all our pupils.

Sincere gratitude to you the parents, families and the whole school community for the trust and support you have given to me and the school staff during my time here. I have been truly humbled by how the Ballylifford community has embraced me as a leader, and I will be ever so grateful and appreciative for everything you have done.

I would like to thank the Board of Governors who have always shared their expertise, shown tremendous support in everything we do and set the challenge of striving to be the best school possible. I know that the Board of Governors will appoint a new Principal very soon. Someone who will work closely with the whole community to ensure that the school continues to be successful through the many established partnerships and someone who will continue to lead the current upward trajectory of standards and achievements within the school.

Saying goodbye is never easy; however, I have full confidence that the shared mission and vision we have established here at Ballylifford PS will continue to grow. I am excited about what the future holds for Ballylifford and the next chapters that you will all write together. There are so many great people who are associated with the school who will steer the school community through the next phase of its journey, and I have the utmost confidence that the school will continue to thrive.

I will leave with many great memories of staff, pupils, parents and Governors - past and present. Ballylifford PS is an outstanding school with a unique commitment to the inspirational young people who wear their uniform with pride and who share our inclusive values and aspirations.

Ballylifford PS will always remain close to my heart and I wish the whole school community every blessing and continued success. Thank you and take care.
