Christmas Carol Service 2024

12th Dec 2024

Last night we celebrated one of our favourite events in our school calendar - our Christmas Carol Service.  It was wonderful to see our whole school community coming together to celebrate the Christmas story through prayer and song.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks - Nights like last night cannot happen without the dedication and support of so many people.

Firstly, to our wonderful pupils - I want you all to know how proud we are of you.  You worked so hard over the last few weeks preparing for our carol service; practicing the carols, readings and prayers with such enthusiasm.  Last night was your night to shine.  Our Carol Service was led by our P.7 pupils as this was their last Carol Service here in Ballylifford and as always they did a fantastic job.

A heartfelt thank you to all our parents, carers and family members who joined us last night.  We know how busy this time of year can be, but we know your presence and encouragement meant the world to our children.

My sincere thanks to our incredible staff for their hard work and dedication in preparing for last night.  Your passion and care is so evident in everything you do and we are so grateful for the time and energy you have put in to making this event such a success.  Unfortunately, Mrs Sweeney was not able to be with us during our preparations and her musical skills and expertise were greatly missed by everyone.  We are so grateful to Meadhbh who has given of her time over the last few weeks to support our P.5/6/7 children with their tin whistle tunes and for coming along last night.  Mrs Sweeney was immensely proud of all our children.

A sincere thanks to Orla for providing delicious refreshments for everyone.  We also appreciated the help of all the ladies in the kitchen who gave up their time last night to assist Orla. Our beloved Brigid Ann is dearly missed by everyone in our school community and it’s on nights like last night that her presence is missed even more.  Brigid Ann – thank you for watching via the webcam and cheering the children on.  We continue to pray for you daily and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Thank you to John our caretaker for all his hard work in getting our school ready for last night.  We truly appreciate everything you do to keep our school looking it’s best at all times.

A special word of thanks to Fr Donnelly and John Wilson for providing the use of the chapel for all our practices, having the mics and heating on and for preparing the crib.  Thanks also to Caroline for the beautiful centre-pieces on the tables back in school – all these special details contribute to the Christmas atmosphere.

A wonderful night - we hope you all enjoyed it!

A Christmas blessing for our whole school community:-

As we gather in this season of joy and reflection, may the light of Christmas fill our hearts and homes with peace.

To our pupils – may you find inspiration to dream big and the courage to continue to grow.

To our staff – may your dedication continue to light the paths for our young minds.

To our parents/carers – may this time bring you rest and renewal, may your homes be filled with laughter, your gatherings with warmth and your hearts with hope for the year ahead.

May the blessings of hope, faith and love surround you and your families this Christmas and always.

Merry Christmas and God Bless.
