Carol Service 2023

14th Dec 2023

What a fantastic night at our Carol Service and lots of little tired faces today.

On behalf of all the staff, pupils and governors of Ballylifford PS, I would like to thank everyone for making last night possible.

Firstly, Fr Donnelly and John Wilson for providing the use of the chapel for all our practices in the month of December and for having the crib up and the chapel looking so beautiful.  I would also like to give a special mention to the Altar Society and Caroline for the absolutely stunning arrangements in the chapel and centre pieces for our tables back in school – all of these small details contribute to the Christmas atmosphere of our Carol Service.

The stars of the show – all the children who have been outstanding in preparing for our Carol Service over the last few weeks.  We introduced 2 new songs this year ‘Tonight’ and ‘Do you hear what I hear?’.  As always our pupils have given 100% effort and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them.  We know that everyone was beaming from ear to ear throughout the performance.

You – all the parents/carers for your continued kindness and support throughout the year and for coming along to enjoy your children on our special night.  Thank you for helping your child to practice the prayers and songs – it’s nights like last night that showcase the strong bonds that exist within our entire school community.

The staff of Ballylifford PS for helping prepare the children – no matter what was needed, the staff were always one step ahead.  The children in Ballylifford are extremely fortunate to have such hard-working, caring staff who work tirelessly to meet the needs of all our children.

A special word of thanks must go to Mrs Sweeney for leading our whole Carol Service once again – Mrs Sweeney puts in so much effort to ensure everything is fully prepared and this was very apparent throughout the performance last night – the singing, readings, prayers, tin whistle.  Your talents are endless Mrs Sweeney so a huge thank you to you.

A sincere thank you to Brigid Ann and Orla for providing the beautiful homemade Christmas treats for last night – Ballylifford is renowned for its hospitality, and this would not be possible without them.  Thank you also to all the ladies in the kitchen who gave up their evening to help Brigid Ann and Orla last night.

Thank you to our caretaker John for his hard work in preparing the school not just for last night but all year round.
It's definitely 'beginning to feel a lot like Christmas' in Ballylifford!
