P5/6/7 have been studying ‘It’s a Disaster’ as a World Around Us theme. Pupils have been finding out about disasters around the world, earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding etc and disasters in the past. Using a Christian Aid Activity pack, in groups, they created a 3d village in the Philippines. Each group had a budget and had to decide which buildings they would build. They worked very hard and thoroughly enjoyed the task..... Unfortunately during break time there was a ‘typhoon’ which caused major destruction to their villages! What a way to generate a discussion and give pupils some insight into how they would feel if this happened to them!
